Tackling Social and Structural Barriers to Your Health

Our Mission

At the Crawford Lab on Race and Equity (CORE), advancing the health of racially minoritized populations is at the core of everything we do. We focus on reducing racial inequities in health by tackling the social and structural barriers faced by marginalized populations.

Our Goals

  • We use cutting edge quantitative and qualitative methods to investigate the ways social and structural systems produce racial inequities in health.

  • We develop, test and evaluate novel interventions across multiple levels to improve the health of racially minoritized populations.

  • We attract premier and highly motivated professionals across the span of their career to help solve some of the most challenging problems in racial inequities in health.

  • We create opportunities for stakeholders from multiple industries to bridge interests that create structural change in policies as well as academic, government, and community environments.

About CORE

CORE is advancing health equity through cutting-edge research and interventions. Rooted in the understanding that social and structural factors significantly impact the health of racially minoritized, CORE is driven by a mission to tackle the disparities that persist in our communities. By fostering a diverse and inclusive environment, we aim to produce rigorous research, implement effective interventions, and mentor the next generation of leaders in the field. Our lab is not only dedicated to scientific excellence but also to challenging and improving the systems that perpetuate racial inequities in health research.

From advancing HIV prevention access in communities to formalizing networks between health professionals, our research spans diverse projects.
